  • Recognise less common types of diabetic neuropathy

  • Discuss the guideline recommendations in the management of diabetic kidney disease

  • Describe the epidemiological trend of gestational diabetes mellitus
  • Discuss screening methods for gestational diabetes mellitus
  • Describe the clinical manifestation and recommendations for standard of care in gestational diabetes mellitus

At the end of this module the learner will be able to:

  • Discuss the global prevalence of women with preexisting type 1 and 2 diabetes
  • Describe the maternal and foetal complications related to preexisting diabetes
  • List the steps involved in preconception care and counselling
  • Discuss the management of type 1 and 2 diabetes during pregnancy
  • Discuss the management strategies of peri- and post-partum care

An IDF ‘Certificate of Achievement’ will be awarded to learners who complete all course modules and pass the final assessment with a score of at least 80%. An IDF ‘Certificate of Participation’ will be awarded to learners who score less than 80% in the final assessment after second attempt.
